How did Mr. Taylor try to stop the thieves?

The expensive shops in a famous near Piccadilly were just "opening. At this time of the morning, the arcade was almost empty. Mr. Taylor, the owner of a jewellery shop was admiring a new display. Two of his assistants had been working busily since eight o'clock and had only just finished. Diamond necklaces and rings had been beautifully arranged on a background of black velvet. After gazing at the display for several minutes, Mr. Taylor went back into his shop.

The silence was suddenly broken when a large car, with its headlights on and its horn blaring, roared down the arcade. It came to a stop outside the jeweller's. One man stayed at the wheel while two others with black stocking over their faces jumped out and smashed the window of the shop with iron bars. While this was going on, Mr. Taylor was upstairs. He and his staff began throwing furniture out of the window. Chairs and tables went flying into the arcade. One of the thieves was struck by a heavy statue, but he was too busy helping himself to diamonds to notice any pain. The raid was all over in three minutes, for the men scrambled back into the car and it moved off at a fantastic speed. Just as it was leaving, Mr. Taylor rushed out and ran after it throwing ashtrays and vases, but it was impossible to stop the thieves. They had got away with thousands of pounds worth of diamonds.

單純學(xué)語法是學(xué)不好語法的。必須眼觀六路，耳聽八方。1.單詞：沒有單詞，不懂單詞的用法，語法只能是無源之水，無本之木。2.聽力：正確的發(fā)音很重要，從單詞發(fā)音開始，反復(fù)聽一盒磁帶，一定要聽得爛熟于心，否則，你聽不懂，說不好，有語法也白搭。3.百科知識(shí)：在閱讀，寫作中，我們會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)只有詞匯和語法，沒有百科知識(shí)，是讀不快，寫不好的。一般說來，床頭應(yīng)有三個(gè)代表：

一本詞匯表，我推薦星火詞匯，星火詞匯有很多優(yōu)點(diǎn)，有圖畫，辨析，真題，最重要的是：錯(cuò)誤最少，現(xiàn)在有很多詞匯表，吹得不得了，但竟然有許多錯(cuò)誤。

一本開卷有趣，開卷有益的迷你閱讀書。沒有大量的閑書閱讀，是絕對(duì)學(xué)不好語言的，英語如此，漢語也是如此。閱讀我推薦外研社的“書蟲”品牌。

學(xué)語法有門道，“短期強(qiáng)化、反復(fù)實(shí)踐”。利用寒假或暑假，通讀一本語法，獲得整體輪廓，再在平時(shí)閱讀或?qū)懽髦?，反?fù)查閱，做到熟能生巧。

很早的時(shí)候，我就想嘗試一下一篇文章讀1000遍，但是由于自己那可憐的意志能力就經(jīng)常被擱置，直到我在2020年5月27日的那天開始讀新概念英語第二冊lesson 6 Percy Buttons那篇文章，經(jīng)過11天的努力，在2020年6月6日讀到了1000遍，那個(gè)感覺是非常爽的，因?yàn)橄炔徽f這個(gè)對(duì)于英語提高有沒有用，（因?yàn)檫@肯定是有用的，因?yàn)橐粋€(gè)很簡單的道理，書讀百遍，其義自見，更何況是讀1000遍呢，而且是不打折扣的1000遍）但是對(duì)于自己的意志能力的鍛煉絕對(duì)有非常大的好處的，現(xiàn)在的社會(huì)不缺那種聰明的人或是智慧的人，缺的是能把一件事情做極致的人，很顯然，我可以自豪地說，我是那樣的人。

我深知一個(gè)道理，我并不是一個(gè)很聰明的人，為了學(xué)習(xí)英語，我是拋棄了所有，背牛津，背原著，什么方法都嘗試過，但是這種一篇文章讀1000遍的還是極少的，雖然以前把新4背過1000遍，但是呢，年代久遠(yuǎn)了，很多都忘記了，所以為了自己以后更加深入地學(xué)習(xí)英語，我決定重新拾起背誦新概念英語的旗幟，每天進(jìn)步一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)，堅(jiān)持必然帶來大改變的，努力不一定會(huì)成功，但是不努力一定不成功。

其實(shí)讀了1000遍以后，那篇文章背起來的感覺是超快的感覺，因?yàn)橥耆挥盟伎?，完全不用費(fèi)腦了，這篇文章就像是鋼板在腦子里印進(jìn)去了，我目前認(rèn)為只要稍加再鞏固一下，忘記是不可能的事情了，因?yàn)槭澜缟匣蚴侨W(wǎng)有哪一個(gè)人會(huì)把新概念英語2第六課真正地讀1000遍呢，反正我是做到了，今天我特別開心，因此寫下此文，希望真正想學(xué)好英語的同學(xué)，可以嘗試一下，你只有自己去做了，才知道這個(gè)方法有沒有用，有沒有效果，我體會(huì)到了那種超爽的感覺，是我許久不曾有過的感覺，感謝現(xiàn)在努力的自己，加油。

2.多聽廣播，非常有用。畢竟播音員的選擇就同中國一樣，都選發(fā)音標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的，邊聽邊模范。

3.多看美國或英國片 特別是美劇 如好漢兩個(gè)半（two and a half men) 、老爸老媽羅曼史(how i met your mother) 、老友記(friends ) 、絕望的主婦（gossip girls）。這些都有很多口語化的句子 而且。很爆笑啊 哈哈 我都想再看一遍
